Our Story

In January of 1843, a spiritual revival broke out new New Kingstown, Pennsylvania.

Rev. Jacob Boas, an Evangelical preacher assigned to the Cumberland Circuit, was holding revival servies inside the homes of the Farenbaughs and the Snyders.  From those revival services, 33 men and women (new converts) committed themselves to Christ.

There was no church in New Kingstown, so the converts - along with 5 other believers - decided to establish an Sunday School class in one of their homes.  They had no pastor.  They had no church building.  They knew next to nothing about Christ and His church .. BUT they were willing to pray, consult the Scriptures and look to Jesus for guidance.

Soon thereafter, that same Sunday School class agreed that a church building was needed.  The site they chose was by the great oak tree located north of town.  That old oak still stands today .. right by Trinity's cemetery.  The name chosen for the church was 'Zion,' and it soon became part of the Cumberland Circuit.

In 1865, following the Civil War, a movement took foot to relocate the church from its spot by the cemetery to a location inside the village of New Kingstown.  The church was carefully taken apart, piece by piece, and relocated onto the spot where we now worship.  It was rebuilt in 1930 and expanded in the 1950s.

In 2023, Trinity's congregation voted to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church in favor of joining the Global Methodist Church.  Trinity Global Methodist Church of New Kingstown officially launched on July 1, 2023.  Today, Trinity continues its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
